Author Event: Jane Buyers

Join us in the ReRead bookstore on Sunday, June 7 from 1 to 3 pm as author Jane Buyers discusses and holds a signing for her new memoir EIGHT SEPTEMBERS: A WOMAN ON WALL STREET FROM 9/11 TO LEHMAN! Written in the style of a fast-paced novel, Eight Septembers is a gripping memoir that captures the tumultuous landscape of Wall Street through the eyes of a woman who lived and breathed its intensity during some of its most challenging years.
Set amidst the turbulent days of Wall Street in the 2000’s, a young mother pursues her banking career at J.P. Morgan while facing personal and professional obstacles. Her story begins on the morning of 9/11 when she and her colleagues in downtown Manhattan survive the terrorist attacks and continue working to help stabilize the financial system—a matter of national security. Through years of escalating banking crises and family responsibilities, her senior executive role catapults her into the center of the 2008 financial meltdown where she is forced to face the contradictions in her life and her own personal meltdown. With unflinching honesty, vulnerability, and self-reflection, Buyers tells a story of struggle, resilience, and growth that will resonate with readers from any generation.
EIGHT SEPTEMBERS: A WOMAN ON WALL STREET won the 2023 Florida Writers Association’s Royal Literary Palm Gold for unpublished memoir. Reviewers noted the “story was compelling and emotions raw,” “her voice brilliantly reflects a human quality that underpins her financial acumen,” and that the book has “good cadence, natural rhythm, and credible dialogue,” as well as “superior sensory descriptions.”
“Filled with explanations and insights that require no prior Wall Street expertise or knowledge of history from its readers, Eight Septembers is a force to be reckoned with….” —Midwest Book Review
“…the kind of insider perspective rarely found in crisis literature…..Her voice is engaging—analytical without losing its human core—and her personal storyline runs parallel to the professional one, each handled with unreserved frankness….For readers seeking to understand the human cost behind financial headlines, Buyers’ memoir offers rare insight.” —BookLife by Publisher’s Weekly
